Jellystone RV Park - 2011

Lessons are often learned the hard way, and our trip to Jellystone RV Park is no exception. Needing to balance things between Cindy Pecos and the two smallest grandchildren, Susan and I decided to treat Thumper and Tumbleweed to a camp out at Jellystone since they didn't come along on the Colorado trip. But the lesson to be learned was to wait until such time that the temperatures cooled. We sweltered in 104 degree heat and the wonderful amenities offered at Jellystone for the children's amusement went unused.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort is located in Eufaula, Oklahoma. It has several concrete pad RV sites with full hookups, and if you have no RV, you can rent one of the many fully furnished cabins, all of which have lake views.

Amenities include a pool, putt putt golf, golf beach, paddle boats, kayaks, water slide, aqua park, volleyball, shuffle board, and much more. They even have a floating cabin if you're so inclined to "lodge on the water."

The office maintains a small grocery, game room, and souvenir store, and serves Starbucks coffee. Other activities for the children include cartoons in the theater room, tie dye t-shirts, candy bar bingo, limbo by the pool, pie eating contest, arts and crafts, and nightly fire truck rides.

It was so hot and dry that several boats were seen resting on the ground . . . .

So, we found ways to improvise by spending a lot of time inside in the comfort of dual RV air-conditioning.

With the exception of the frequent freight trains passing by immediately adjacent to the park, Jellystone makes for a quick and convenient weekend family excursion.

In spite of the scorching heat and loud train horns, the kids had a good time and Grandma and Papa got to spend some quality time with them before school resumes in the fall.
